  1. Alexander Malena-In my opinion I disagree that the technology of vaping is a safer alternative to smoking for E-cigarette smokers because most e-cigarettes deliver nicotine, which is highly addictive and can harm the developing the brains of teenagers, children and fetuses in women who vape while pregnant. Some types expose users to even more nicotine than traditional cigarettes. In addition to that, electronic cigarette vapes include potentially harmful substances such as diacetyl, cancer-causing chemicals, volatile organic compounds, and heavy metals such as nickel, tin, and lead. Users breathe in these toxins and non-users nearby risk exposure. "What You Need to Know About Vaping-Related Lung Illness" By Matt Richtel states “e-cigarette aerosol is not harmless; it can expose users to substances known to have adverse health effects, including ultrafine particles, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds and other harmful ingredients.” This shows that the technology of vaping can expose smokers to health effects like heavy metals volatile compounds and other harmful ingredients. The liquid used in e-cigarettes can be dangerous, even apart from its intended use. Children and adults have been poisoned by swallowing, breathing or absorbing the liquid through their skin or eyes and have developed severe symptoms and required hospitalization ."What You Need to Know About Vaping-Related Lung Illness" states "The early symptoms include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, coughing and fever, escalating to shortness of breath, which can become so extreme it can prompt an emergency room visit or require hospitalization." This shows anyone that has inhaled the liquid from e-cigarettes has suffered from severe effects like vomiting, nausea, fever, and have been forced to be hospitalized.According to "The Mysterious Vaping Illness That’s Becoming an Epidemic" By Sheila Kaplan states "But some oil droplets may be left over as the liquid cools back down, and inhaling those drops may cause breathing problems and lung inflammation.Inhaling oil into your lungs is extremely dangerous behavior that could result in death, said Thomas Eissenberg,”. This shows the chemicals in vapes can cause breathing and lung problems that can result in death. "The Mysterious Vaping Illness That's Becoming an Epidemic" states "Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, said he suspected a link to illicit products perhaps related to ingredients including THC because the main manufacturers of e-cigarettes had not suddenly altered their ingredients on a wide scale. This shows that illegal manufacturers has instituted ingredients that cause injuries and suffering to people who use e-cigarettes. Most illnesses are linked more to vaping since people smoke it more than regular cigarettes. "Health investigators believe the illnesses are linked to vaping for several key reasons: The patients have vaped nicotine or marijuana extracts, or both, and do not have an infection or other condition that would explain the lung disease." ("What You Need to Know About Vaping-Related Lung Illness"). This shows that a lot of illnesses are caused by vaping that's why vaping is not a safer alternative than smoking."The Mysterious Vaping Illness That’s ‘Becoming an Epidemic" states "They tested for infectious diseases. They tested for bacteria. They tested for a host of issues. It all came back negative,” his father said. He requested anonymity to protect the identity of his son. “We were helpless. We didn’t know what to do. The doctors didn’t know what to do. They would treat the symptoms first and figure out what was killing him later." the risks outweigh the benefits that vaping is not the safest approach. The facts are now shown that the technology of vaping is not safer than smoking.

Alexander, I agree with your position that vaping is not a safer alternative to smoking. I quite enjoy the way you organized your paragraph by first stating how dangerous the use of e-cigarettes are and how different parts and materials of the products are harmful to use. I believe you hit most, if not all, of the most important points, so I have no other addition that I can provide to strengthen your argument.

Alexander, I agree with your position on vaping that it is not a safer alternative to smoking and also statement you made about "adult and Children are poisoning themselves when they breathe the swallow and breathe the smoke." I believe that your response was quite clear for my understanding and the breakdown of your argument and main point was stated as facts.

Some people say that smoking alternatives such as vapes or E-Cigs are a safer technology because your not exactly smoking the cig. I disagree with this statement completely. I been said I would never vape or smoke e-cigs because I thought it was dumb. To get a device just to inhale nicotine or other chemicals such as E vitamins are going to damage the lungs which can and may lead to deaths of many young people. Also, with having other health affects or not, smoking or inhaling anything that has chemicals in it would really affect your breathing or your health in general. Many cases have been confirmed that relates to vaping and people getting sick from it. Public Officials stated that "hundreds of people who vape die or get sick". Chemicals such as THC or nicotine or any substance extracted from marijuana or any other substance brought from an outside party to mix with the technology will cause damage in the worst way. Although the health officials don't know what exactly costs the damage, they know the situation is very serious and that until an exact cause is found "Stop vaping in general" will be the best. That's probably the most mysterious thing because we don't fully understand what causes these health issues when we put the device in our mouth, so the health officials can't let us know what we can do in order to use the device and still be safe. Another issue I believe correlates with this whole issue is teens or young adults trying to be cool or down. Nowadays vaping or smoking is the new wave that's been happening since I'v entered high school. Walking down the block or street and seeing kids that look younger than me smoking through a vape always confused me. But in this day in age, us teens get caught up in not thinking about whats best for us, but instead what are others doing and how can I fit in. In this case, that's the vape and as a result the youth is slowly killing themselves. Yes, e cigs and vaping is less harmful than cigs in general, but that doesn't mean that it's harmless. Also, for the people who smoke e-cigs, Its only meant for "People who use tobacco products". Therefore if you don't, stay away because it can jack up your lungs. Another issue is that most of us are too young to actually purchase vapes or e-cigs from the retail stores or are always looking for a cheap and quick way to get the device. Therefore young people often buy the device off the streets not knowing that the device could have been tampered with and extra chemicals are being added. In the New York Times Article, it stated "The most risky vapes are the ones brought off the streets,". Finally, us as humans are always coming up with new ways to do or use certain things. Us as teens or young men and women make dumb mistakes. One of the worst mistakes you can make is of course mixing other illegal drugs brought from a 3rd party and mixing it for a new high because it can once again, KILL YOU. So no, I don't believe that people should use these device because its not helping the situation of smokers but instead making it even worse. So until researchers find out the exact reason behind the health issues and deaths, these devices shouldn't be used.

I agree with you Shon Mack Jr because the streets is the most dangerous place to purchase E-cigs at because you never know what the dealer added to it to make you come back, I know with other drugs people put their own spin on it to get you hooked and make you come back for more.

According to centerofaddiction.org, vaping is the act of inhaling and exhaling the aerosol, often referred to as vapor, which is produced by an e-cigarette or similar device. The term is used because e-cigarettes do not produce tobacco smoke, but rather an aerosol, often mistaken for water vapor, that actually consists of fine particles. Many of these particles contain varying amounts of toxic chemicals, which have been linked to cancer, as well as respiratory and heart disease.
I personally disagree with the statement that some e-cigarettes smokers consider the technology a safer alternative to smoking. Most people that are trying to quit smoking cigarettes turn to e-cigarettes because they perceive it as being less harmful, but this is in fact not true. According to the first article, the effect of using e-cigarettes/ vaping as a way to quit smoking hasn't been proven. They suggested that people that are trying to quit, to use the methods that have been found effective. According to the first article also investigators have linked lung illness to patients that use vaping because the patient's vaped nicotine or marijuana extracts or both and have not had any other infections or conditions that would explain the lung illness.
The second article helps shed light on how serious and vaping is.According to the article, Dr. Pirzada has treated more than 215 patients with mysterious life threatening vaping related illnesses. "Most patients are mostly otherwise healthy and in their late teens, early 20's.
They are showing up with severe shortness of breath, often after suffering for several days with vomiting, fever and fatigue. Some patients have even wound up in intensive care units or on a ventilator for weeks."
"Many vaping ingredients are not listed on the products. Vitamin E oil appears to have been a common substance associated with the severe and sudden respiratory problems in some of the New York cases, according to state health officials. It is not known how it was used. Vitamin E is sometimes advertised as a supplement in cannabidiol oil, which is not designed for vaping but has been used that way." This further just shows how bad smoking e-cigarettes and vaping is when the companies that make these products have ingredients that are not listed on the products. How can the average consumer trust these products, when they don't even know what they are putting into their bodies?

I agree with your statement regarding e-cigarette use. Vaping as a way to quit smoking hasn't been proven, and there are studies that show that the chemicals found in e-cigarettes are harmful to your lungs. I also liked how you stated what the other side believed in and countered it with evidence from the articles. Also, your question at the end was good to leave the reader thinking and agree with your position.

Many people argue that new technologies such as vape's and E-Cigs are a safer alternative to traditional smoking of cigarettes. In my opinion, I believe that is not the case as anything that you inhale besides oxygen is bad for your lungs. The majority of these vapes and E-Cigs advertise themselves as tobacco free but leave out the fact that they contain nicotine, which is the chemical that stimulates your brain and causes addiction. Due to this false advertisement, the product becomes appealing to teens and young adults who then proceed to smoke and become addicted. Additionally, because people see it as a brand new technology they don't realize the risk of these products. They feel that these products are new and improved therefore, they are safer than traditional cigarettes. For instance The New York Times Post mentions that "The early symptoms include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, coughing and fever, escalating to shortness of breath, which can become so extreme it can prompt an emergency room visit or require hospitalization." This should serve as an eyeopener for those who smoke these products. Although some people might argue that they are still better for you than cigarettes the study's and the data suggest that they can have similar or possibly worse consequences. Therefore I believe that until the F.D.A can approve these products no one should use them

Juan, I agree with your position that no one should use vape's and e-cigarettes until the F.D.A approves. I also agree on your take that since vape's and e-cigarettes are new technology, most teens and and young adults believe it to be better than traditional cigarettes since it's a new thing. I believe that one point that would help strengthen your argument would be the second article in which states "Most patients are mostly other wise healthy and in their late teens, early 20's.They are showing up with severe shortness of breath, often after suffering for several days with vomiting, fever and fatigue." I believe that this would have helped strengthen your point that the demographic that is using this products are teenagers and people in there 20's

And how you discussed about the chemicals in vapes that stimulates your brain and causes addiction. and the early symptoms because of vapes includes vomiting, coughing, fever and more and has led to extreme measures of people requiring hospitalization. Vapes and E-cigarettes advertise themselves as tobacco free but are currently not. I feel you should have added some more points on how it can affect your life or other young teenagers lives in response to your argument on what others might say about vaping being a safer alternative.

Many people think that vaping is safer than actually smoking but that is not necessarily true.Vaping is the act of inhaling and exhaling the aerosol, often referred to as vapor, which is produced by an e-cigarette or similar device. The e-liquid in vaporizer products usually contains a propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin-based liquid with nicotine, flavoring and other chemicals and metals, but not tobacco, this shows that vaping is not natural because of its chemicals. According to https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/07/health/vaping-lung-illness.html it states that, " Hundreds of people across the country have been sickened by a severe lung illness linked to vaping, and a handful have died, according to public health officials". Therefore I believe that E-cigs are not a safer way of smoking. Many people have been ill in the hospital because of THC Vaping ,based on "https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/07/health/vaping-lung-illness.html" it says,"The F.D.A. said a significant subset of samples of vaping fluid used by sick patients included THC and also contained a chemical called vitamin E acetate". This shows that people are getting sick from the chemicals in the vapor. In adittion there are many people who are vaping just to vape and not because they want to quit there tobacco addiction, for example teens. Many teens have died or got suck from vaping based on "https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/07/health/vaping-lung-illness.html" it states, "and a handful have died, according to public health officials. Many were otherwise healthy young people, in their teens or early 20s". This shows that Vaping is not safe at all and people who dont smoke shouldnt be vaping because it can affect them badly. I believe that no type of smoking is safe because smoking is smoking at the end of the day it still affects your lungs and even though E-cigs are tobacco free and people might say is safer then tobacco product like cigarettes it still contains nicotine which is very addicting and can lead to throat or lung disease.

You gave your points and reasons on why you believe that using this technology isn't safe due to the chemicals found in it and how it enters our body causing us to be sick. You gave the age group and what the chemical does to the human body. Also, I believe that the addition of direct quotes made your argument better and stronger because it backed up what you stated. I believe that you did a good Job.

I strongly agree with your statement that vaping is worst than smoking cigarettes. I agree with the fact that the use of tobacco is a natural chemical whiles on the other hand vaping is mixed with many different type of chemicals which causes a higher risk of death. I liked that you included the links that you found evidence on to back up your claim. once again i strongly agree with your statement.

  7. REANNA RAMPERSAD - Some people may say vaping or smoking e-cigarettes is safer than smoking cigarettes. I disagree with this statement because vaping is when you inhale the vapor through the mouth from a battery operated device that heats up a liquid and turns it into vapor. In other words, vaping is not a natural way of smoking due to the amount of chemicals used to create the vapor liquid. E-liquid is the mixture used in vapor products such as e-cigarettes and usually contain propylene glycol, glycerin, nicotine, flavorings, additives, and differing amounts of contaminants. Too add on, vaping comes with many different symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath etc. According to the article "What You Know A bout Vaping", "The early symptoms include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, coughing and fever, escalating to shortness of breath, which can become so extreme it can prompt an emergency room visit or require hospitalization. This quote explains that vaping symptoms can get out of hand and cause you to be in extreme health problems causing you to get hospatilized.
In my opinion smoking cigarettes is way better than vaping because cigarettes is natural tobacco with no added on chemicals. Over the years many teens has died from the usage of vape but people who has been smoking cigarettes for over 20 years are still alive with no health conditions. You may ask why was vape created? "E-cigarettes and other vaping devices were developed to help cigarette smokers quit their dangerous habit by providing a way to satisfy their nicotine addiction without inhaling the toxins the come from burning tobacco". In this case people who does not smoke should not be vaping. Even though people may still argue the fact that smoking cigarettes is worse than vaping i still strongly believe that vaping is way more worse than cigarettes.

  8. MAHADEV BASDEO- The consideration of E-cigarette technology maybe safe for some people, but I think it is not safe for anyone because vaping is a way people used to stop smoking nicotine product and cannabis but instead some people would used the THC product that contains marijuana and nicotine that can still affect the body especially as a teenager you are at risk to suffer from vaping. According to the "Mysterious vaping illness that's becoming an epidemic", this article explains what can happen to a teen when they vape because it stated clear that the victim were an eighteen year old teenager that was in the emergency room this article also state some facts that can caused teens to suffer which are, " the health investigator try to determine whether there were toxin or a specific substance that are been used to harm people when vaping also the center of disease control prevention warn the teens to stop buy bootleg e-cigarette". So if teens was going to vape they should used the natural substance that the older people would used or do not ever think about vaping because it is still not safe in anyway. According to the " New York Times on What you need to know about vaping related lung disease", this article explains the complication many would have when vaping as it states in the text that many people that was reported with the complication were in their early twenty's which they were and these were some of the symptoms " Nausea, coughing and fever are some early symptoms", so therefore if there are symptoms like these that no one likes and also it can get severe as leading in to "Lung disease" as a teen they should resist from smoking although there are many threats that it is safe to vape but in conclusion i believe that it is not safe in any way to vape whether naturally or THC products non of these are good for the human body especially if you want to stay healthy also the article goes on to explain " what is the best way to prevent the illness?", the CDC response was for people to stop vaping until the cause of lung damage is determine which many or the officials predict that these lung damages come from smoking so which means vaping the new technology is not a safe way to vape.

  9. Pierre Theophan - In my opinion I disagree that the technology of vaping is a safer alternative to smoking for E-cigarette smokers because most e-cigarettes deliver nicotine. Which can cause an increase in blood pressure, heart rate, flow of blood to the heart and a narrowing of the arteries (vessels that carry blood). It may also contribute to the hardening of the arterial walls, which in turn, may lead to a heart attack. However, even though e-cigarettes and vaping is less harmful than e-cigarettes in general, that doesn't mean that it's harmless. Also, for the people who smoke e-cigarettes, It's only meant for "People who use tobacco products" So it's best to avoid it since E-cigarettes produce a number of dangerous chemicals including acetaldehyde acrolein and formaldehyde. These aldehydes can cause lung disease, as well as heart disease. What You Need to Know About Vaping-Related Lung Illness" By Matt Richtel states “e-cigarette aerosol is not harmless; it can expose users to substances known to have adverse health effects, including ultrafine particles, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds and other harmful ingredients.” This shows that the technology of vaping can expose smokers to health effects like heavy metals volatile compounds and other harmful components. But vaping has its own problems too, as stated in “The Mysterious Vaping Illness That’s ‘Becoming an Epidemic’ “Nicotine or THC, the high-inducing chemical in marijuana, is mixed with solvents that dissolve and deliver the drugs.“Inhaling oil into your lungs is extremely dangerous behavior that could result in death,” said Thomas Eissenberg, who studies vaping at Virginia Commonwealth University. “That is probably the biggest message we can get out of this.” So overall i believe that these products shouldn’t be used and should remain being tested until the FDA can approve of these products.

Today in our society teen's these days have been going spiraling on vaping but it can cause many damages , however I believe that E-Cigs and vape is not a safer alternative to traditional smoking of cigarettes.Vaping is the act of inhaling and exhaling the aerosol, often referred to as vapor, which is produced by an e-cigarette or similar device. E-cigarettes do not produce tobacco smoke, but rather an aerosol, often mistaken for water vapor, that lead’s people to think it’s a safer smoking method. Many of these particles contain varying amounts of toxic chemicals, which from the alternative smoking device have been linked to cancer, as well as respiratory and heart disease.According to the first article, by (New York Times) the effect of using e-cigarettes/ vaping as a way to quit smoking hasn't been proven. They suggested that people that are trying to quit, use the methods that have been found effective, such as juulung , vaping etc. Referring back to the article, investigators have linked lung illness to patients that use vaping because the patient's vaped nicotine or marijuana extracts or both and have not had any other infections or conditions that would explain the lung illness. The second article also written by the (New York Times)helps share more evidence on how serious vaping is and injurious to health.According to the article, Dr. Pirzada has treated more than 215 patients with mysterious life threatening vaping related illnesses. "Most patients are mostly otherwise healthy and in their late teens, early 20's.They are showing up with severe shortness of breath, often after suffering for several days with vomiting, fever and fatigue. Some patients have even wound up in intensive care units or on a ventilator for weeks." To tie it all together, these several pieces of evidence can explain how these vaping/ e-cigarettes are not healthy and shouldn’t be used. I believe your health comes first, and these devices can very badly harm you.

I agree with the fact you said that vaping is a safer alternative to traditional smoking of cigarettes. I liked how you made it clear about the act of inhaling and exhaling of vapor which showed the danger of vaping and how its not safe. You did a very good job by stating evidence from the article which made your points stronger and more clear.

I agree with the thought process on why you believe that Vaping or smoking E cigs is not a safer alternative than the actual thing. I like how you included the idea of adding how today's society is circulated around this trend of vaping and smoking e cigs. You supported your statement with relevant details and also the symptoms after smoking and inhaling the harmful chemicals

Aziera, I agree with your stance about both vaping and e-cigs not being safe then the traditional way of smoking cigarettes. I also like how you used strong pieces of evidence from both articles to articulate your well thought through point. I also liked how you briefly included how the teens of today society are esentially hooked on the trend of vaping. Good Job!

I liked how you structured your paragraph and how you incorporated relevant evidence to support your statement. I also agree with your main points that inhaling foreign chemicals from electronic cigarettes is harmful and that they shouldn't be used.

  12. Kimberly Bueno Romero - Vaping is the action of inhaling and exhaling the vapor produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device. Some e-cigarette smokers consider the technology a safer alternative to smoking, but I disagree. They consider the technology of vaping a safer alternative to smoking because the purpose of these electronic cigarettes was to help cigarette smokers quit. They were meant to satisfy smoker’s nicotine addiction without inhaling the toxins that comes from burning tobacco. People who believe this should consult with their doctor and use proven treatments to avoid even more complications. In actuality, vaping is harmful because consumers don’t really know what might be inside these devices. I wouldn’t use these devices because vaping companies are shady since many ingredients are not listed on the products, and we only have one pair of lungs, so ruining them at a young age would be really counter-intuitive. In the article What You Need to Know About Vaping-Related Lung Illness, Matt Richtel states “Patients, mostly otherwise healthy and in their late teens and 20s, are showing up with severe shortness of breath, often after suffering for several days with vomiting, fever and fatigue. Some have wound up in the intensive care unit or on a ventilator for weeks.” This is a really concerning problem, as young people are having respiratory issues due to the use of electronic cigarettes that have become popular as of late. The F.D.A. revealed that a significant subset of samples of vaping fluid used by sick patients included THC and also contained a chemical called vitamin E acetate. In the article “The Mysterious Vaping Illness That’s Becoming an Epidemic”, Mitch Smith explains “Nicotine or THC, the high-inducing chemical in marijuana, is mixed with solvents that dissolve and deliver the drugs. The solvents, or oils, heat up during aerosolization to become vapor. But some oil droplets may be left over as the liquid cools back down, and inhaling those drops may cause breathing problems and lung inflammation.” This means that contrary to popular belief, vaping can also ruin people’s lungs and cause breathing problems and harmful lasting effects. It can expose users to substances known to have bad health effects such as ultra-fine particles, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds and other harmful ingredients. In addition, In Illinois, a woman in her 30s who had recently vaped was hospitalized and died, health officials said on Aug. 23rd according to the NY Times. I believe these e-cigarettes are harmful to user's health and it is better to be safe than sorry. In summary, until an actual health practitioner says vaping is safe (which is not likely seeing as so many people have been hospitalized due to vaping), it is better to not use them.

Kimberly Bueno, I like how you stated your claim and explained what the purpose of e-cigarette is actually meant for. You also stated why vaping shouldn't be used or trusted, which was a great way to assess the topic at hand.

Vaping is an action in which a person exhales vapor from inhaling a electronic cigarette. Some people consider vaping a safer alternative to smoking an actual cigarette because it helps people to completely replace a cigarette, which contains so many harmful chemicals. CDC has concluded in a MedicalNewsToday article that "e-cigarettes can benefit adult smokers who are not pregnant, as long as they completely replace any other nicotine or tobacco product." Even though this is true, vaping is still a dangerous act for many reasons. One reason that vaping is still a dangerous act to do is because it still contains most, if not all, of the chemicals and ingredients that regular cigarettes contain, and one of those main chemicals is nicotine, which can easily rewire your brain into becoming addicted to vaping, just as a cigarette would. The New York Times article "The Mysterious Vaping Illness That’s ‘Becoming an Epidemic" has stated that even though e-cigarettes are less harmful than normal cigarettes, it still has its own problems, as "nicotine or THC, the high-inducing chemical in marijuana, is mixed with solvents that dissolve and deliver the drugs." Not only does an e-cigarette turn nicotine or THC into a vapor, the oil inside the e-cigarette "may be left over as the liquid cools back down, and inhaling those drops may cause breathing problems and lung inflammation". Vaping is also dangerous because even though its counterpart is more dangerous, it still has enough power to damage the human body to the point where a person has to go to the hospital. Some teenagers who vape tend to mix an e-cigarette with a different drug, most notably marijuana, which is safer to smoke than an e-cigarette itself. However, since teenagers are always willing to mix and match to try something new, the marijuana along with the oil gets vaporized and they get sent to the hospital about a couple of weeks later. The New York Times article "What You Need to Know About Vaping-Related Lung Illness" has stated that a bunch of people were sick by "a severe lung illness linked to vaping, and a handful of them have died, according to officials." Even though these risks come with smoking an e-cigarette, teenagers will still use the product, some of which may revert to smoking an actual cigarette.

I like John's response to the question. He would do a good job with showing their evidence as well as restating it. John did a good job with giving more sources and putting it to back up his point.

John, I like your response to the question. In my opinion, what makes your response different from the rest is the way you gave a definition of vaping and then you proceeded by going into your argument and your stance on the topic. I also like how you included strong evidence from the text that solidified your stance on the issue. Great Job!

If you ask any kid who vapes or smokes E-cigarette why they do it they would say that it is much safer than smoking an actual cigarette and they would never admit that they are actually addicted, personally I believe teens only start vaping to look cool but what started off as looking cool can turn into addiction and this could serve as a gateway to other more lethal drugs and kids never actually look at all the ingredients and chemicals that are included in these e-cigarettes and vapes. In the article “What You Need to Know About Vaping-Related Lung Illness” It states that “Hundreds of people across the country have been sickened by a severe lung illness linked to vaping, and a handful have died, according to public health officials. Many were otherwise healthy young people, in their teens or early 20s.” when in your early ages like your teens and early 20s you are supposed to be at your peak/prime with your physical health and E-cigs smokers are seeing the exact opposite. It also states that some of the symptoms of “vaping includes fatigue, nausea, vomiting, coughing , fever and in more severe cases shortness of breath which can lead to death” people also say that vaping does not have the same long term effects of a cigarette but vaping has not been around long enough for us to accurately know how bad it can affect you in the long run. In the article it also states that “The most risky vapes are the ones bought off the streets” believe this is true because even with other drugs people try to make their own special strain to attract customers and you never actually know what is really included in the product and in the article “The Mysterious Vaping Illness That’s ‘Becoming an Epidemic’ it states that “Health investigators are now trying to determine whether a particular toxin or substance has sneaked into the supply of vaping products” so us as teens are basically letting unknown chemicals into our body that experts can't even find which makes the future so much more scary and because of that I WILL not be participating in this trend and I advise you to do the same…..

I like how Krishion used imagery in the first sentence to get my attention to the article. Krishion argues that most teenagers do vaping to seem cool but don't see the long term effects of it and how they are blinded from that. I agree with the evidence he gave as well as this statement after he gave his evidance "when in your early ages like your teens and early 20s you are supposed to be at your peak/prime with your physical health and E-cigs smokers are seeing the exact opposite." He goes on to show how this health issue can be considered an epidemic and give detailed evidence from the NY times.

Vaping as become popular in the world we live in as well as in the Youth. However, this topic became more heated in the summer of 2019 when reports came out that teenagers have been dying and the cause was vaping. The government would intervene and place a ban on vaping, and this spark an outcry and controversy in the United States. I believe that e-cigarettes or vaping could revolutionize the way we think about smoking, but it needs more work to be done. Most people would smoke the e-cig instead of the regular smoking because they would believe it would be 0 damage to their health. They would think that it helps not pollute the world and affect people nearby them like a regular cigarette would. They would also do this to impress their friends. However, the effects of this weighs more the bad than good. As stated in the New York Times, it states “Nicotine or THC, the high-inducing chemical in marijuana, is mixed with solvents that dissolve and deliver the drugs. The solvents, or oils, heat up during aerosolization to become vapor. But some oil droplets may be left over as the liquid cools back down and inhaling those drops may cause breathing problems and lung inflammation”. As my classmate said it, this is the peak of our health. As we get older, our health becomes more of a problem and smoking these products will come like a bill of your life and your health would have to pay for it. E cigarette is the same thing as smoking a cigarette because of it being Nicotine. Same product that can get you addicted, same product that can get you more health problems. There isn’t any advantage to these e-cigarettes.

There have been a lot of conflicts on whether or not vaping is safer than smoking cigarettes. Although both versions of smoking is dangerous I do agree that vaping is a less dangerous alternative. Vaping is inhaling the vapor through the mouth from a battery operated device that heats up a liquid and turns it into vapor, vaping is not a natural way of smoking but the vapor does not contain the harmful compounds found in smoke from cigarettes.Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and COPD, which includes. Smoking cigarettes also increases risk for tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems of the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis..The purpose of the electronic cigarettes is to aid cigarette smokers in quiting and to satisfy a smoker’s nicotine addiction without inhaling the toxins that comes from burning tobacco. A counter argument would be that vaping is harmful because consumers are unaware of what might be inside these devices. . In the article What You Need to Know About Vaping-Related Lung Illness, Matt Richtel states “Patients, mostly otherwise healthy and in their late teens and 20s, are showing up with severe shortness of breath, often after suffering for several days with vomiting, fever and fatigue. Some have wound up in the intensive care unit or on a ventilator for weeks.” This is was once compared to a pandemic because young people are having respiratory issues due to the use of electronic cigarettes The F.D.A. did reveal that samples of vaping fluid used by sick patients included THC and also contained a chemical called vitamin E acetate Vaping can also ruin people’s lungs and cause breathing problems and harmful lasting effects. But I do still believe vaping is safer than cigarettes.
