I liked where you said that the video didn't focus solely on claims and counterclaims but the evidence is a major part also in order to persuade the readers. Also, I agreed with when you said that it focused on the tone because the tone is an important factor because of the voice or the attitude that the writer uses to persuade readers.

Also when I watch the video you summarizing about it show the things that you said it had.
Dante Watson: I agree with you. The video " how to write an arguementive essay " was most helpful. I believe so because the video explain every part of an argumentative essay and I understood the video better than the others.
DeleteMessiah brown- I would also like to agree with your statement Daniel because you talked about what stood out the most to you, in this particular video. You've showed us that you fully understand the video, and I would like to add on saying, that the video showed us how to write a great argumentative essay, and have others want to agree with you
Delete-Alexander Malena Out of all 6 resources the resource that I found to be most helpful to me was the resource "How To Write An Argumentative Essay" because it gave the important information essential to your needs to write a argumentative essay. In the video it talked about that in a argumentative essay your trying to persuade the reader to make a change mental change or an actual change in which i felt it should be a note to myself because i want the person who reads my writing to understand and learn from it to probably make changes or choices to what they do in their daily activities or lives. the resource showed that you have to give evidence to your support your claim and that reminded me of something i always hear before i write that i always have to give evidence because that is what supports my argument if i don't then its merely an unsubstantiated idea or opinion thats something that people who might watch this video may want to take notes on.The video explained about the parts of a argumentative essay like the claim, body paragraphs, counterclaim, and conclusion and you must follow it directly or you'll end up forgetting but not just that but when you present your argument the reader would want to see things from your point of view which i found it to be very important because the reader wants to see what you believe, your opinion, why you chose to write about this they want to hear it from your perspective not from anybody else is because then your whole argument is useless when your not referring to your own thoughts. They also talked about in the video that its on you to persuade and appeal to the audience of your argument so they could be on your side and know why your side is more important than the other sides and the way your suppose to deliver your tone in your claim like it has to be civil and polite or people will not listen or ignore it which i'll keep that to myself also when im writing a argumentative essay. This resource points out the important concepts, tips, and information in writing an argumentative essay and to be successful moving forward in your writing
ReplyDeleteDante Watson: I also believe that the video " how to write an arguementative essay " was the most helpful. I believe so because it explain what an argumentative essay is and I understood the video better than the others.

ReplyDeleteOf the six videos about what are claims and counterclaim I think the video "What are Counterclaims?" was the
most resourceful for writing counterclaims because it informed what are counterclaims, why and how they are
used in argument to counter statement that you think are incorrect by explaining why it wrong and use evidence
to support u counterclaim, it aslo tells each part of a counterclaim and how to start one by showing examples.
In the video "Writing a Counterclaim" it explains what are counterclaims and how to make one but in the video
"What are Counterclaims?" it show more examples and explain more in depth about what are counterclaim and why
its used in an argument.

DeleteI agree with your point that the source "What are Counterclaims"is more into detail and gives more information than "Writing a Counterclaims?".I like how you said what a counterclaims is and I think it was a well explanation of what it is.

DeleteAziera Khan: All 6 resources/tools are very helpful to a argumentative writer. However, writing a counterclaim resource is the best resource in my eyes. For you to get a better understanding, a counterclaim is the position you disagree with and problems they may bring up with your reasons for your position. As a argumentative essay writer, I am very strong at supporting my claim and providing evidence. Unfortunately, not good with writing a good counterclaim essay. In the video it gives points to make your writing your counterclaim efficient. For example, it tells me the reader to consider potential flaws in your argument and how to address them and to also consider quality claims on the opposition side and why those claims haven't changed your minds. These points are so useful to improve writing a counterclaim. Even though, these are some tips the video gives, he points out many points that make a writer understand and think.

ReplyDeleteAfter watching all six videos, I believe that the " how to write an argumentative essay" video was most helpful. I believe that video was the most helpful because it fully broke down what an argumentative essay is. The video first start off by explaining what an argumentative essay is. An argumentative essay is an essay that persuades your reader to make a change. After that the video explained the argumentative essay structure. The structure of an argumentative essay is the first part is the intro/ thesis, the second part is the body(s) paragraph and the last part is the conclusion. To summarize this up, I believe that the " how to write an argumentative essay was the most helpful. I believe so because it explained all the topics the other videos explained but it elaborated further than the others. So therefore the " how to write an argumentative essay" was most helpful to me.
ReplyDeleteKeon- To me, the first video "What is a Claim? " was a more helpful source to me because it gave me more details about what a claim was. It also gave us examples that would be used in the real world to help the viewers get a more better understanding of the topic.
ReplyDeleteSambhav Banstola
ReplyDeleteI think the first video "What is a Claim?" is most helpful source for me than the other videos because the videos make it interesting with animation and give real life examples to make viewers easy to understand.
jalen- i agree with you sambhav the video ''what is a claim?'' was very useful it explained what a well written claim looks like and what a poorly written claim looks like.it also gave examples of them.
DeleteMessiah brown- after watching all of the videos i believe that the "how to write an argumentative essay" video stood out the most. This video has shown me the importance of argumentative and how it can change the way people see certain things and have a change of heart on that topic. It has shown me various examples people used argumentative writing, like writing a face book post about a movie you really liked. It has thoroughly broken down the skill of argumentative writing and how to start it off, and how to support your claim, so it doesn't look like you're just stating random facts, and you have to explain yourself. Therefore this is why the "how to write an argumentative essay" video is the most important to me
ReplyDeleteoneil parchment- when I finished the videos i believe that "making a claim " what was the most useful knowledge i got from both videos it helped me with understanding the importance of making your claim and how it brings your essay together.after watching all the videos i believe that making a claim had the most important video best making a claim is one of the most important pats of an essay
ReplyDeleteAhmed-The first video ''What is a Claim'' helped me the most. The reason behind me finding this video the most helpful is how in depth the video went to describe a claim and its importance. Not only did the video go in depth about claims it also gave useful examples on the topic of what a claim is.These examples helped me better understand the concept of a claim.
ReplyDeleteKeon-I agree with you Ahmed, the video did do a great job explaining what a claim was and the examples were a great way to help the viewers understand what a claim is.
DeleteMohammed Rahman: Out of all 6 resources the resource that I found to be most helpful to me was the resource "How To Write An Argumentative Essay" because it gave specific information on how to write the body paragraph and the counterclaim. Through out the resource the narrator told is to persuade the reader in the argumentative essay so they could have a mental change in the argument/claim. It also Gave information about how to write specific paragraphs like the body and counterclaim and the intro. It could help write the argumentative essay because an intro in the argumentative essay is different, you have to introduce background information, your position on your claim, and 2-3 reasons and the sum up on the other side. Also it showed me how to right the counterclaim, i did not know how to write a counterclaim the right way, a counter claim is the disagreement on the other side of the claim, you need to give a reason about the opposing side of the claim and give evidence, then you need 1-3 reasons on your side of your claim---Using specific pieces of evidence i learned the method using C.E.C-cite,explain,connect. If i didn't learn on the things about this resource i would have had many mistakes on my argumentative essay thanks to the internet there is many ways to write it.Basically, the video points out the major concepts of developing an argument and provided helpful tips to formulate a successful argument. It shows how to appeal a readers sense on the argument giving them a debate and persuade them on your claim.
ReplyDeleteSean Yeribo - I believe that the "How to write an argumentative essay" video was the most helpful to me because it explains the overall format of writing an argumentative essay. The video talks about each part of an argumentative essay and provides related examples for each part. For instance, the video brings up the topic "Are cats better than dogs?" It shows the entire essay and its processes which will give students a better understanding of the topic.
ReplyDeletejalen-after watching all six videos iv'e decided ‘'making a claim'’ was most helpful for me. The argument depends on your claim in an argumentative essay .the video discuss tips for writing a well written claim and avoiding writing a poorly claim. A claim is not a personal opinion. A strong claim is specific. A good ex of a poorly written claim is ‘’If cyclists want to share the road with cars, they need to ride faster. This is not a well written claim because its an opinion. A good ex: of a well written claim is ‘’in order for teens to get the maximum amount asleep schools need to start at 9:30 am rather than 7:40am. This is a well written claim because is specific and arguable.
ReplyDeleteIVAN LARA-after watching all 6 videos I decided that Argumentative Essays, Part 1: What is a Claim Statement? was most helpful to me because it gave many examples of how to back it up and what type of evidence and well explain it.It gives a genral statement and helps me understand what a claim is and how to back it up
